Rules & Regulations

KCP CAC (Championship) Show Format

The Kennel Club of Pakistan (KCP) Championship Shows are conducted to evaluate and reward dogs that best conform to their respective breed standards. The following format explains the classes, awards, competition procedures, and championship titles applicable at KCP Championship Shows.

Judging is conducted separately for males and females of each breed. All awards are granted solely at the discretion of the Judge and only when the exhibit is considered of sufficient merit.

Male Classes

  • Minor Puppy Class — Dogs aged 3 to 6 months.
  • Puppy Class — Dogs aged 6 to 9 months.
  • Junior Class — Dogs aged 9 to 18 months. The winner may be awarded the Junior CAC (J-CAC).
  • Intermediate Class — Dogs aged 15 to 24 months.
  • Open Class — Dogs aged 15 months and over.
  • Champion Class — Dogs holding a recognized championship title.
  • Veteran Class — Dogs aged 8 years and over. The winner may be awarded the Veteran CAC (V-CAC).

CAC Competition (Males)

The following dogs shall compete for the CAC award:

  • Excellent 1st Intermediate Class
  • Excellent 1st Open Class

The Judge may award CAC or Reserve CAC. If required, the second-placed dog from the winning class may be called back into the ring to compete for Reserve CAC.

Female Classes

  • Minor Puppy Class — Bitches aged 3 to 6 months.
  • Puppy Class — Bitches aged 6 to 9 months.
  • Junior Class — Bitches aged 9 to 18 months. The winner may be awarded the Junior CAC (J-CAC).
  • Intermediate Class — Bitches aged 15 to 24 months.
  • Open Class — Bitches aged 15 months and over.
  • Champion Class — Bitches holding a recognized championship title.
  • Veteran Class — Bitches aged 8 years and over. The winner may be awarded the Veteran CAC (V-CAC).

CAC Competition (Females)

The following bitches shall compete for the CAC award:

  • Excellent 1st Intermediate Class
  • Excellent 1st Open Class

The Judge may award CAC or Reserve CAC. If required, the second-placed bitch from the winning class may be called back into the ring to compete for Reserve CAC.

Breed Finals

  • Best Minor Puppy of Breed — Best Minor Puppy Male and Female compete.
  • Best Puppy of Breed — Best Puppy Male and Female compete.
  • Best Junior of Breed — Junior winners of both sexes compete.
  • Best Veteran of Breed — Veteran winners of both sexes compete.

Best of Breed (BOB)

The following exhibits shall compete for Best of Breed:

  • Best Junior of Breed
  • Male CAC Winner
  • Female CAC Winner
  • Champion Class Winner (Male)
  • Champion Class Winner (Female)
  • Best Veteran of Breed

The Judge shall award Best of Breed (BOB) and Best of Opposite Sex (BOS). The Best of Breed winner qualifies for the Best in Show competition.

Show Finals

  • Best Minor Puppy in Show (BMPIS) — All Best Minor Puppy of Breed winners compete.
  • Best Puppy in Show (BPIS) — All Best Puppy of Breed winners compete.
  • Best Junior in Show (BJIS) — All Best Junior of Breed winners compete.
  • Best Veteran in Show (BVIS) — All Best Veteran of Breed winners compete.

Best in Show Competition

All Best of Breed (BOB) winners compete for Best in Show (BIS) and Reserve Best in Show (RBIS). No callback system shall be used during the Best in Show competition.

Callback System

The callback system is used only during CAC competitions. *Example:* if the Intermediate Class winner receives the CAC award, the second-placed dog from the Intermediate Class may be called back into the ring to compete for Reserve CAC.

KCP Championship Titles

  • Pakistan Champion (PK CH) — three (3) CAC awards under at least three different judges.
  • Grand Champion (GR CH) — a Pakistan Champion winning three (3) BOB awards, or three (3) BOS awards, or two (2) BIS awards.
  • Pakistan Junior Champion (PK JCH) — three (3) Junior CAC (J-CAC) awards under at least three different judges.
  • Pakistan Veteran Champion (PK VCH) — three (3) Veteran CAC (V-CAC) awards under at least three different judges.

Judge's Discretion

The Judge is not obliged to award any qualification, title, certificate, CAC, Reserve CAC, J-CAC, V-CAC, BOB, BOS, BIS, or RBIS if the exhibit does not possess sufficient merit. All awards are granted solely on the quality of the exhibit as evaluated against the applicable breed standard. The decision of the Judge shall be final.

Important Note

This format applies to KCP Championship Shows where CACIB awards are not offered. Exhibitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the KCP Show Regulations before entering any competition.
