Rules & Regulations

Format of FCI International CACIB Shows

The Kennel Club of Pakistan (KCP) conducts FCI International CACIB Shows in accordance with the regulations of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). The following explains the class structure, awards system, competition procedures, and championship titles applicable at KCP International CACIB Shows.

These regulations help exhibitors understand the progression of competition from breed classes through Best of Breed, Group judging, and ultimately Best in Show. All awards and titles are awarded solely at the discretion of the Judge and only when the exhibits are considered of sufficient merit.

Breed Competition Classes

Judging is conducted separately for males and females of each breed.

Male Classes

  • Minor Puppy Class — Dogs aged 3 to 6 months.
  • Puppy Class — Dogs aged 6 to 9 months.
  • Junior Class — Dogs aged 9 to 18 months. The Judge may award the Junior CACIB (J-CACIB).
  • Intermediate Class — Dogs aged 15 to 24 months.
  • Open Class — Dogs aged 15 months and over.
  • Champion Class — Dogs holding a recognized championship title.
  • Working Class — Dogs accompanied by a valid Working Class Certificate (WCC) recognized by KCP and issued in accordance with FCI requirements.
  • Veteran Class — Dogs aged 8 years and over. The Judge may award the Veteran CACIB (V-CACIB).

Female Classes

  • Minor Puppy Class — Bitches aged 3 to 6 months.
  • Puppy Class — Bitches aged 6 to 9 months.
  • Junior Class — Bitches aged 9 to 18 months. The Judge may award the Junior CACIB (J-CACIB).
  • Intermediate Class — Bitches aged 15 to 24 months.
  • Open Class — Bitches aged 15 months and over.
  • Champion Class — Bitches holding a recognized championship title.
  • Working Class — Bitches accompanied by a valid Working Class Certificate (WCC) recognized by KCP and issued in accordance with FCI requirements.
  • Veteran Class — Bitches aged 8 years and over. The Judge may award the Veteran CACIB (V-CACIB).

CACIB Competition

Following the completion of class judging, the following exhibits shall compete for the CACIB award:

  • Excellent 1st Intermediate Class
  • Excellent 1st Open Class
  • Excellent 1st Champion Class
  • Excellent 1st Working Class

The Judge may award CACIB, Reserve CACIB, or CAC.

Awarding of CAC

The CAC is normally awarded to the dog or bitch receiving the CACIB. If the CACIB winner is already a Pakistan Champion, the CAC shall pass to the Reserve CACIB winner. If both the CACIB and Reserve CACIB winners are already Pakistan Champions, the Judge may award the CAC to the next most deserving exhibit from the remaining eligible dogs in the CACIB competition.

Breed Finals

  • Best Minor Puppy of Breed — Best Minor Puppy Male and Female compete.
  • Best Puppy of Breed — Best Puppy Male and Female compete.
  • Best Junior of Breed — Junior winners of both sexes compete.
  • Best Veteran of Breed — Veteran winners of both sexes compete.

Best of Breed (BOB)

The following exhibits shall compete for Best of Breed:

  • Best Junior of Breed
  • Male CACIB Winner
  • Female CACIB Winner
  • Best Veteran of Breed

The Judge shall award Best of Breed (BOB) and Best of Opposite Sex (BOS). The Best of Breed winner qualifies for Group Competition.

Group Competitions

All Best of Breed winners shall compete within their respective FCI Groups. The Judge shall award Best in Group (BIG). The winner of each FCI Group advances to the Best in Show competition.

Show Finals

  • Best Minor Puppy in Show (BMPIS) — All Best Minor Puppy of Breed winners compete.
  • Best Puppy in Show (BPIS) — All Best Puppy of Breed winners compete.
  • Best Junior in Show (BJIS) — All Best Junior of Breed winners compete.
  • Best Veteran in Show (BVIS) — All Best Veteran of Breed winners compete.
  • Best in Show (BIS) — All Group Winners compete for Best in Show (BIS) and Reserve Best in Show (RBIS).

Callback System

The callback system ensures that all eligible exhibits are considered for reserve awards.

Reserve CACIB — If the winner of a class participating in the CACIB competition receives the CACIB award, the second-placed exhibit from that class may be called back into the ring to compete for Reserve CACIB. *Example:* if the Excellent 1st Open Class dog wins CACIB, the Excellent 2nd Open Class dog is called back for the Reserve CACIB competition.

Reserve Best in Show — If a Group Winner receives Best in Show, the second-placed exhibit from that Group may be called back to compete for Reserve Best in Show. *Example:* if the Group 7 winner is awarded Best in Show, the second-placed exhibit from Group 7 may be called back for the Reserve Best in Show competition.

KCP Championship Titles

  • Pakistan Champion (PK CH) — three (3) CAC awards, or three (3) CC awards, under at least three different judges.
  • International Champion (INT CH) — four (4) CACIB awards under at least three different judges from three different countries.
  • Grand Champion (GR CH) — a Pakistan Champion winning three (3) BOB awards, or three (3) BOS awards, or two (2) BIS awards.
  • Pakistan Junior Champion (PK JCH) — three (3) Junior CACIB awards, or three (3) Junior CC awards, or any combination of three (3) Junior CACIB and Junior CC awards.

Judge's Discretion

The Judge is not obliged to award any qualification, title, certificate, CAC, CACIB, Reserve CACIB, BOB, BOS, Group Placement, or Show Placement if the exhibit does not possess sufficient merit. All awards are granted solely on the quality of the exhibit as evaluated against the applicable breed standard. The decision of the Judge shall be final.
