The registration of litters is one of the most important functions of the Kennel Club of Pakistan (KCP). Accurate litter registration ensures the integrity of pedigree records, maintains breed standards, and preserves the credibility of the national registry. Breeders seeking to register a litter with KCP must comply with the following requirements and procedures. The five stages of the process are summarised in the timeline above.

Eligibility Requirements

Registered Sire and Dam

Both the sire and dam of the litter must be registered with the Kennel Club of Pakistan and eligible for breeding under KCP Rules and Regulations. The dam must be at least eighteen (18) months of age at the time of mating.

Breeder Requirements

The breeder must:

  • Be a current member of the Kennel Club of Pakistan.
  • Be the registered owner of the dam at the time of mating.
  • Hold a registered kennel prefix with KCP.

Only litters bred under a registered KCP kennel prefix shall be eligible for registration.

Stud Certificate

A Stud Certificate must be completed and submitted online through the KCP Portal within fifteen (15) days of the mating date. Failure to submit the Stud Certificate within the prescribed period may result in delays or refusal of litter registration.

Litter Registration Timeline

The litter must be registered within three (3) months of the date of birth.

Late Registration

  • Litters registered after three months but within four months of birth may be accepted upon payment of double the applicable registration fee.
  • Applications submitted after four months from the date of birth will normally not be accepted.
  • KCP may, at its sole discretion, consider exceptional circumstances supported by satisfactory evidence.

Registration of Puppies

All puppies in a litter shall initially be registered in the name of the breeder. Registration Certificates and Pedigree Certificates will be issued in the breeder's name, and it shall be the responsibility of the breeder to transfer ownership of individual puppies to their respective new owners.

Kennel Prefix Requirement

A litter may only be registered under a recognized KCP kennel prefix. The registered kennel prefix will form part of the official registered name of every puppy in the litter in accordance with KCP naming regulations.

Fees and Payments

All applicable registration fees, pedigree fees, transfer fees, and other charges must be paid through the KCP Portal or any other payment methods approved by KCP. Applications will not be processed until all applicable fees have been received and verified.

Issuance of Registration Documents

Upon approval of the litter registration application, KCP will issue Registration Certificates and Pedigree Certificates. These documents will be made available through the KCP Portal and may also be dispatched to the breeder through an approved courier service at the breeder's registered address.

Verification and Compliance

KCP reserves the right to request additional information, photographs, supporting documents, DNA verification, veterinary records, or inspections whenever deemed necessary to verify the accuracy of any registration application. The breeder must provide complete and accurate information in all applications submitted to KCP.

False Information and Rule Violations

If, at any stage, it is discovered that false or misleading information has been provided, registration documents have been falsified, parentage has been incorrectly declared, breeding has taken place in violation of KCP Rules and Regulations, or any other breach of KCP regulations has occurred, KCP reserves the right to:

  • Reject the registration application;
  • Cancel the registration of the litter or individual dogs;
  • Withdraw Registration Certificates and Pedigree Certificates;
  • Suspend registration privileges;
  • Impose disciplinary sanctions; and
  • Take any other action considered appropriate under the KCP Rules and Regulations.

Important Notice

Submission of a litter registration application does not automatically guarantee registration. All applications are subject to verification and approval by the Kennel Club of Pakistan and must comply with the Rules and Regulations in force at the time of application. By submitting a litter registration application, the breeder confirms that all information provided is accurate and agrees to comply with all applicable KCP Rules and Regulations.
